HII deploys RFID access control system, increasing shift change throughput 4x
Huntington Ingalls Industries, America’s largest military ship-building company, sought to accelerate the clock-in and clock-out procedures for their 20,000+ shipyard employees in Louisiana and Mississippi.
RFID Global deployed a solution utilizing Visi-Trac and sensor devices for time and attendance tracking. This solution integrates RFID technology with modular access control gates and provides rapid entry and exit of employees during shift changes. Visi-Trac combines timekeeping and access control into a single system linked to existing accounting and control applications. Use of the solution increased throughput during shift changes by greater than four times over the legacy magnetic swipe system.
Visi-Trac has managed over 20,000 daily shift changes 365 days/year for over a decade, increasing worker time on the job and controlling costs.
